ALISON HEBDON

VOCAL | PIANO | KEYBOARD | THEORY

Alison has been involved with music all her life, coming from a musical family of singers and performers. She had her first singing lessons at 12 and piano lessons at 13, going up the grades and soon realising that music was going to become very important to her. She has a BA(hons) in Music and a PGCE in Music with MIDI Music and has sung in choirs and as a soloist all over the UK and Western Europe. She has also played tenor & baritone horns in brass bands and fancied herself as a viola player very very briefly!

Since moving to Gloucestershire in 1998, Alison has been a peripatetic and classroom music teacher and vocal coach. She has taught classroom Music to all age groups; taught singing, piano, keyboards & theory peripatetically in schools and at home to all ages, covering all genres and exam boards; has worked across the West of England delivering vocal workshops particularly to church musicians & worship leaders; and has a lot of experience of teaching neurodiverse students.

Whilst grade exams can be extremely helpful to provide a teaching & learning framework and to show musical development, Alison believes enjoying making music is most important, and she is excited to be able to her years of experience and love of teaching & music to YMS.
