PIANO | KEYBOARD

Karen was born in Stockton on Tees in 1967. Her teachers recognised she had a natural ability for music and she proved that by the age of 14, completing her grade 8 Piano. She also has Grade 6 Oboe and Grade 5 Violin. When Karen turned 18, she moved to London and studied Music and Art at Roehampton Institute where she gained BA Hons. After graduation, Karen worked in publishing and advertising for a few years. She then returned to music and taught piano and keyboard at Cleveland School of Music, during this time Karen acquired an ALCM Performance in Piano. She then moved on to gain her PGCE Music Qualification at Canterbury Christ Church University.

Karen has been with YMS since 1997, during this time she has also taught in the classroom at a secondary school and various other schools teaching piano and keyboard. Schools Karen has taught at include: Rochester Grammar School, Oldborough Manor, Barton Court Grammar School and Horsted Junior School.
