Ken joined the Armed Forces in 1970 at the age of 15 and became a member of a Military Band. In 1972, he won the opportunity to attend a one year course at The Royal Military School of Music, where he was given tuition by some of the finest musicians in the country and at the end of the year, won the prize for Best Pupil in Instrumentation. In 1984, Ken continued his professional career after leaving the Armed Forces and secured a position with Kent Music School. Alongside his teaching, Ken completed a 3 year degree in Music at Canterbury Christchurch University. In 1999, Ken started teaching here at YMS.
During Ken's career as a professional musician, he has had the pleasure of performing at many prestigious events in venues that include Wembley Stadium, The Royal Albert Hall and The Festival Hall. Ken has also played in many countries around the world, from European to South American tours where he performed at the Commonwealth Games and The Calgary Stampede.
Primarily based here at YMS, Ken has taught in many educational facilities such as Canterbury Academy and Barton Court Grammar School. Ken was also Yamaha Music School's National Drum Instructor.
