Suzy is a Drummer and Singer who is passionate about helping people experience the joy and confidence-building powers of learning an instrument... whatever your age and experience.

Her rather varied career has included Acting, Musical Theatre performance and direction, choral singing in Southwark Cathedral, and a Medical Degree from King’s College London, with time spent as a Junior Doctor before specialising as a Radiologist. 

After starting a family, she ran an online education business helping new parents care for unwell children at home, before taking a break from Medicine and pursuing her passion for playing the drums, starting with lessons right here at YMS! 

This resulted in a new path into full time music performance and teaching. 

Suzy's teaching style is interest led, incorporating the different elements of technique, music reading, listening and improvisation in an integrated way. She is particularly passionate about adapting to various learning styles, interests and needs.

This works especially well for those with neurodiversity or specific learning differences, and she is able to provide a tailored, flexible and fun learning experience, ranging anywhere from exploring through play and topics, all the way up to focusing on progressing through the grades.

You'll find her in the drum rooms on a Wednesday each week, with some daytime availability (particularly suited to late starters and homeschoolers) as well as the usual after school/evening slots. When she is not there, she can be found teaching in other local primary and secondary schools, doing some theatre work, and gigging locally with various bands.
